Fr. Harry V. Carlin, 89, on March 1, 2006 in Los Gatos, Calif. He served for 46 years at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco as teacher, prefect of discipline, president, and vice president for development.

Fr. Joseph P. Carroll, 93, on March 30, 2004 in Los Gatos, Calif. A former business manager for America magazine, he was also an administrator at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and the Diocese of Oakland.

Fr. Albert Chan, 90, on March 10, 2005 in Los Gatos, Calif. He did historical research in Hong Kong, Lisbon, Madrid, and at the University of San Francisco's Ricci Institute.

Fr. James N. Chevedden, 56, on May 19, 2004 in San Jose, Calif. He was a missionary in Taiwan and worked with the Chinese in California.

Fr. Eugene J. Colosimo, 92, on April 26, 2006 in Los Gatos, Calif. He taught math, English, and religion at high schools in San Jose, Phoenix, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles.

Fr. James J. Gill, 78, on July 29, 2003 in Scottsdale, Ariz. A psychiatrist at Harvard, he established the Christian Institute for the Study of Human Sexuality and the Jesuit Education Center for Human Development.

Br. John F. Graham, 82, on March 22. 2006 in Los Gatos, Calif. He taught theology at the University of San Francisco, hosted a health education radio program, and served the poor in Jamaica and San Francisco.

Br. Robert H. Griffin, 85, on May 9, 2004 in Los Gatos, Calif. He was mission treasurer and buildings and grounds superintendent at schools in Taiwan, the Philippines, and Nepal.

Fr. Eugene R. Growney, 61, on December 4, 2003 in Los Gatos, Calif. He was principal at Brophy Prep in Phoenix and at Loyola High in Los Angeles, where he was also community superior.

Fr. Thomas G. Hand, 84, on October 11, 2005 in Los Gatos, Calif. He taught and directed retreats in Japan for 29 years and was a retreat director and spiritual guide at the Mercy Center Institute in Burlingame, Calif., for 20 years.

Fr. Alfred G. Playoust, 90, on May 2, 2006 in Los Gatos, Calif. He taught Latin and Greek to Jesuits in Los Gatos and at high schools in Los Angeles and Sacramento, taught English in the Philippines, and was a hospital chaplain in San Jose.

Fr. Theodore F. Zuern, 85, on June 25, 2007, in Wauwatosa, Wis. He served as pastor at St. Isaac jogues in Rapid City, S.D., and as superior at Holy Rosary Mission in Pine Ridge, S.D.
