After studying alternative energy and global climate change through St. John’s Jesuit’s Green Light Project, students at the Toledo high school started a program called Schools Lighting the Way. The program partners with a company that produces solar-powered flashlights: every time a flashlight is purchased, another is donated to someone in a Third World country who is not on an electrical grid.
Students designed a blue and gold flashlight with the St. John’s Jesuit crest that can be seen at www.schoolslightingtheway.com. The site provides information for high schools interested in joining the program. [St. John’s Jesuit Academy]
