This popular feature in Company has a history by now; since our first context in 1998, every other Summer issue has presented the result of our photo contest. We look forward to the hundreds of submissions we receive and the chance to show you parts of the wide Ignatian world. The judging was done by Company's staff, including Susan Ryan, a photographer and former photo editor for the Chicago Tribune, and just by luck, Company's founding editor, Fr. Ned Mattimoe, SJ, who happened to be in town on judgment day. (He also wrote the "As I See It" article for this issue of Company. First-place winners in each category — professional, amateur, and student — will receive $250; second-place winners, $100; third-place winners, $50; and honorable mentions, $25. Company thanks all the photographers whose work you see on these pages and all the other who took the time to submit. |
